Work Experience

2022 - present

Accessibility Instructional Designer

In 2022, I earned the Learner-Centered Instructional Design Graduate Certificate from UC Denver. At Colorado Mountain College, I utilize my passion for creating and my expertise in accessibility and Universal Design for Learning to help solve problems. I assist faculty and staff in understanding WCAG and ADA standards for their learning materials by developing creative, accessible learning experiences for all.

2019- Present

Virtual Teacher

As a virtual teacher, I wore many hats. I taught students across ability and grade levels in English, Reading, Intervention, and electives. My other hats include designer, facilitator, learner, and leader. This role allows me to design content for both my students and my peers. I facilitated professional development, lead a co-teacher, and learned new pedagogies along the way.

Teacher

​While working in Denver Public Schools, I grew from a special education teacher to Team Specialist. I learned firsthand how to organize and lead all the while teaching engaging content to learners predisposed to find me boring: middle schoolers. I worked with a team, organized a team, collaborating with stakeholders, and quickly learned new systems. As a team specialist, managing deadlines for dozens of IEPs (Individualized Education Plans) was a key responsibility that taught me how to efficiently project manage. Also, when was the last time you needed to impress a 13-year-old? Harder than it sounds.

A seven-year highly qualified teacher, with a breadth of experience in online and brick-and-mortar environments. Skilled in curriculum development, Universal Design for Learning and accessibility, I am a passionate creator, dedicated to making engaging instruction that is accessible to all learners.

  • Increased ADA compliance in our Learning Management System (LMS) by 4% within 90 days through the 90s Accessibility Challenge

    • Designed a 90s-themed, 90-minute learning solution utilizing Rise360 to support faculty in achieving a 90% score on Anthology Ally

    • Improvement measured across over 1,000 courses and 150,000 pieces of digital content

    • 85 participants in the first iteration feedback included "This was extremely helpful" and "Thank you for making this fun"

  • Collaboratively built an external reporting page to visualize ADA compliance in instructional content through the use of PowerBI and Anthology Ally

  • Created a SharePoint-based Equity and Access knowledge base for delivering just-in-time tutorials on digital accessibility, incorporating CMC's Core Concepts of Accessibility

  • Ideated the Core Concepts of Accessibility, which are actionable steps for staffand faculty to create accessible content

  • Developed and implemented the Provide Accessible Content Today (PACT) campaign to deliver instruction to Staff in 15 minute bi-weekly asynchronous modules

  • Leader of the Institute on Digital Equity, multidisciplinary team at CMC focused on bridging the digital divide for rural Colorado mountain residents

    • Lead the Grant writing team through submittal of our $10 million joint proposal to fund 5 activities designed to support digital equity in rural Colorado  ​
