Colorado Mountain College is launched the "90's Accessibility Challenge" - a professional development initiative aimed at improving digital accessibility and ADA compliance across the institution's academic offerings. The key elements include:

90-minute training on the Learning Hub platform

Goal for faculty to reach 90% scores on Ally (an accessibility tool)

$90 incentive for completing training and reaching 90% Ally score

Objectives

Empower faculty with accessibility knowledge to enhance existing courses and reach 100% compliance with CMC's ADA checklist.

Enable faculty to effectively use CMC-specific resources to maintain 90%+ Ally scores in Canvas courses.

Develop efficient procedures to enhance accessibility in course design and foster an accessibility-focused culture.
Learning Structure

The training is divided into three main units plus pre- and post-unit sections:

Design for Readability (25 minutes)

Color and Alternative Text (15 minutes)

Audio and Video Accessibility (20 minutes)

Each unit covers core concepts, guided practice, and assessments. The course incorporates UDL principles and 90s-themed content to engage participants.
Implementation

Built using Rise 360 with Storyline components

Complemented by a Canvas learning community for additional resources and collaboration

Launched February 12, 2024 with 95 days until the May 17 deadline​
Success Metrics

85 completed the challenge across two semesters​

Increased Accessibility scores in Canvas from 75.1% to 80.3% using Anthology Ally's reporting tool
